Why do Chuseok train tickets sell out the moment reservations open?

I was trying to book a train ticket to Busan for the Chuseok holiday, but everything says "sold out." And the holiday is still a long way off. Why is that? ## Why Are the Tickets Already Gone? Holiday tickets all go on sale at once, several weeks before the holiday. But almost everyone wants the same days and times. That's why popular tickets disappear the moment booking opens. ## Why does everyone want the same time? Many families hold the ancestral memorial service in the morning, so they have to leave early the day before or on the first day of the holiday. Many people also head out right after work. ## Why does everyone crowd into that particular time? The real reason is that everyone has the same thought: "Let's go before the traffic gets bad." Everyone knows the expressways get jammed, so they leave at dawn or early in the evening. As a result, the very hours everyone was trying to avoid end up the most crowded. Travelers should do the opposite of that thinking. - Check the booking schedule in advance on the Korail Talk app and the express bus booking site. Dates and fares change every year. - Avoid leaving Seoul on the morning of the first day of the holiday, and heading to Seoul on the evening of the last day. - During the holiday, daytime hours and the direction heading into Seoul are relatively less crowded. If there are no tickets, cancellations come up often, so check again until the day before departure.
