While watching a drama, have you ever wondered, "Where is that beach?" Have you ever wondered that? A foreign student asked me. They asked if there's a way to find it on their own, without a tour. The answer is in the end credits. ## A Short Conversation in the Credits Student: "Where was this drama filmed?" Me: "Watch until the end. 'Filming cooperation' appears in the credits." On screen: "Filming cooperation: Gangneung City, Gangneung Film Commission" ## What These Words Do 'Filming cooperation' means that the region helped with the filming. They block the road for a moment, free up parking spaces, and help with getting permits. Why do they help? Because when a drama becomes popular, people come to visit the city. So city halls and county offices hope to see their names in the credits. A "film commission" is an organization in charge of helping with filming. ## Things You Can Do Right Away Look for the city name in the credits. Try searching for that name together with "filming locations." Some city hall tourism websites have a map of filming locations posted. Some don't, so be sure to check. There's one thing to be careful about. Many filming locations are places where people live or run businesses. Take your photos quietly, and if it's a shop, please order at least one drink. That way, they'll happily welcome the next traveler too.
