The package is just sitting in front of the door, so why does no one take it?

Packages are just left in front of the front door. It's the same at the neighbors' on both sides and across the hall. An international student asks, "What if someone takes it?" He asked. Koreans hardly worry about that at all. ## Why Doesn't Anyone Take Them? Apartment buildings have a password at the main entrance, and there are CCTV cameras in the hallways and elevators. If someone takes another person's package, it's easy to find out who did it right away. Most delivery drivers leave the package at your door and send you a photo. It leaves a record of when and where your package was. ## A trick only people in the know use When you place an order, be sure to fill in the 'delivery request' box. You can write something like "Please leave it at the door," "Please leave it with the security office," or "Please put it in the unmanned parcel locker." If you leave it blank, the delivery driver will decide on their own. If Korean is hard for you, it's fine to paste in a sentence made with a translator. Korean people grow up watching their parents use this field from a young age. So they don't think of it as something that needs explaining, and no one ever tells you about it. ## When you get a "photo at the door" notification A photo often comes with the "delivery complete" text message or app notification. Check that the door in the photo is really your door. If it says delivered but your package isn't there, show that photo and tell the delivery app or customer service. Look up the contact details from the courier company named in the text message. Having a photo makes it much easier to explain.
